His appearance on the E4 show came despite three women who had previous relationships with Mr Roberts reportedly raising concerns about him. Others would have come forward.

April has now said The sun: ‘The trauma I have from being on Married At First Sight is ruining my life.

“I was given six therapy sessions and basically told to try to move on. People say Love Island is brutal but MAFS is 100% worse.

“No one should apply to participate until they have stricter background checks in place.”

“I just try to get through every day. If I slip into this black hole, I don’t think I can get out.

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: “It is categorically untrue to suggest that April has been asked to take a stand against her wishes, nor would we seek to silence her.”

“All actors have access to appropriate support before, during and after filming and broadcasting, including access to an independent psychologist.

“This support is offered proactively at every stage and, when requested, on an ongoing basis. April was offered and continues to have access to such support.

“All contributors undergo extensive background and psychological checks, including the most rigorous police checks a production can undertake.”

George, 40, and April tied the knot in a non-legally binding ceremony after meeting at the altar for the first time on hit show E4.

April recently moved back to her £750,000 flat in south London – without ‘husband’ George.

Before news of her arrest broke, MailOnline exclusively revealed that April was undergoing therapy after her marriage to the divorced father of four ended.

E4 is still airing the pre-recorded program with him and his TV wife April after his arrest.

Roberts, a father of four, financial adviser, denies any wrongdoing and was bailed out by Scotland Yard.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘A 40-year-old man was arrested in Worcestershire on Thursday September 29 on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour. He was taken to a police station and released on bail pending further investigations.

Meanwhile, viewers of last Tuesday’s episode of Married At First Sight UK saw April continuing to worry about her husband’s “trust issues” while claiming he might be “the only one”.

The former Miss GB brought George to London during the show’s stay-at-home week, where they met April’s best friend Jose.

As she stepped out for a few drinks, April told her pal, “It’s been a massive roller coaster, it’s been a trip I thought I’d never take.” It was not easy. I got a glimpse of George’s life, how it was, it’s peaceful, very different. We have very different lives. I think that’s what we need to see if we can fit together.

Speaking to the camera alone, Jose said: “The month of April that I’m having, I don’t think she wants to go to the countryside, she still has a lot to do in town.”

“In terms of compromise, I don’t want to see April do all the work.” It also needs to add a bit of compromise. Like ok children are very important in my life but so are you.’

April told him, “My main concern is the fact that he didn’t trust me throughout this and that I didn’t do anything to make him not trust me.”

“Things have happened, things have been said and I felt like I had to defend myself all the time to the point now that I don’t know what I can do to make him think I would ever do that. .”

Jose replied: ‘It’s George’s problem, it’s not yours. He is the one who must find a solution to his trust issues.

Speaking to the camera alone, April said: “My biggest concern that I expressed to Jose is that George has trust issues.”

“I hope he can get over it because I want to see a future with him and that’s the only thing I see to stop it from happening. This is the most important thing to move forward.

“I really hope he can get there without sabotaging something that can be so amazing. That’s what I cling to. I guess only time will tell.

While George was in the bathroom, Jose asked April, “Do you think George is the one?”

April replied: ‘I don’t know, I think George might be the one. I literally adore George, the feelings I have for him are unlike any feelings I have ever had for anyone in the past.

Last weekend, April suggested the relationship was over. A source close to April said The sun that she is “having a very difficult time” and “never wants to see him again”.

A source from the show said they were unaware of the allegations against George before he married April on the TV show.

But one of his ex-girlfriends claimed otherwise. “I’m so shocked to see that he was given a platform on a TV show. I messaged Married at First Sight. I said I reported it to the police,” a she told The Sun.
